Wallets

A crypto wallet is a tool (app or device) used to manage digital assets by controlling the keys that authorize transactions on a blockchain.
Most users interact with wallets to send/receive crypto, connect to decentralized apps (dApps), and store tokens, NFTs, or stablecoins.

Common wallet types:

  • Hot wallets: Connected to the internet (mobile/desktop/browser). Convenient, but higher exposure to online risks.

  • Cold wallets: Offline storage (often hardware wallets). Less convenient, but generally stronger protection for long-term holding.

  • Custodial vs non-custodial: Custodial means a provider holds keys on your behalf; non-custodial means you control the keys.
